Booking system for theatre and drama schools

A booking page for your theatre school's classes, holiday workshops and productions

Macadamia gives your theatre or drama school a booking page where parents can book weekly classes, whole terms, holiday workshops and one-to-one lessons, and buy tickets for your productions. Card payments are made through Stripe and paid into your own account. For each class, term or workshop, you decide whether parents pay the full amount, spread it in instalments, pay a deposit or pay on the day.

Free to start. No card needed until you choose a paid plan.

Stage curtains drawn back, a spotlight beam, a script with a ribbon bookmark and a short row of theatre seats, rising from an opening macadamia shell.

Classes, terms and workshops

Each kind of session is set up to match the way you run it

The events list in the dashboard, showing a weekly class, a term, a holiday workshop and a production, each with its bookings so far.

Weekly classes for each age group repeat automatically, and each one has its own price, number of places and venue. A term is a set of dates that parents book and pay for together, and you can run it again with new dates the following term. Holiday workshops have their own date, price and places. One-to-one lessons in acting, singing or audition technique are appointments booked from the hours you set, and a student's regular weekly slot can be kept for them.

  • Weekly classes by age group
  • Terms, booked and paid together
  • Holiday workshops and summer schools
  • Acting, singing and audition lessons

Booking a class or term

A booking page parents can use on a phone

A booking page with the next few dates shown as cards and this week shown as a list, where one class has been booked and another is full.

Your booking page has its own web address, which you can share as a link or add to the website you already have. It lists the next few dates first, then this week day by day, with the time, price and places left for each class. Parents can book several children in one go, with a name for each, and they don't need an app or a password to do it. You can add your own booking questions, such as each child's age, and parents can tick a photo consent agreement before they book, with the wording they agreed to kept with the booking.

  • Several children, each with their own name
  • Photo consent ticked at booking
  • Places left for each class
  • A waitlist when a class fills up

Productions and tickets

Tickets for your productions are sold from the same page as your classes

A booking form for a production offering adult, child and concession tickets, with a booking question and a button to pay.

Each production is set up as a performance with its own date, venue and number of tickets, and it appears on your booking page next to your classes and workshops. You can sell different ticket types for the same performance, such as adult, child and concession, each at its own price. A family can buy several tickets in a single booking, and confirmations and reminders are sent to them by email.

  • Adult, child and concession prices
  • A set number of tickets for each performance
  • Several tickets in one booking
  • Email confirmations and reminders

Paying

How parents pay

You set the payment options separately for each class, term, workshop and lesson. Card payments go through Stripe and land in your own account.

Full payment
Parents pay the whole amount by card when they book.
Termly instalments
The card is saved when they book, and later payments are taken automatically every month or week, as you choose.
Workshop deposits
Parents pay part at booking, and the balance later from their login.
Cash or bank transfer
Parents pay you directly, and you mark the booking as paid.
Lesson packages
A block of one-to-one lessons is paid for up front, and a lesson cancelled within your rules goes back into the package.
Monthly memberships
Paid by card and renewed automatically each month until cancelled.

Refunds can go back to the parent's card or be kept as credit for another booking.

Plans and prices

Core costs £15 a month and Team costs £25

The main booking features come with every plan, including Free, so it's a sensible place to begin. On a paid plan, Macadamia doesn't take a commission on your bookings, your booking page can sit on your own domain, and the Macadamia credit is removed. If several teachers give one-to-one lessons, Team gives each of them their own hours and lesson types.

  • Free

    £0 a month

4% of online payments, and a small Macadamia credit on your page.

  • Core

    £15 a month

No commission, your own domain and no credit. For one teacher.

  • Team

    £25 a month

Everything in Core, for several teachers.

At around £375 a month in online bookings, Core costs less than Free. Paid plans start with a 30-day trial, and there's no charge until you go live, or 30 days, whichever comes first. Stripe's own card fees apply on every plan.

Questions

The main FAQ covers payments, your data and your domain in more detail.

Can families of the cast get a discount on show tickets?

Yes. You can create a discount code for them, with a limit on how many times it's used, and they enter it when they book their tickets.

Can a summer school be booked as one course across several days?

Yes. A summer school can be set up as a course, a set of dates that parents book and pay for together.

Can audition coaching sessions be longer than our singing lessons?

Yes. Each type of lesson has its own length and price, so audition coaching and singing lessons can be set up separately.

Can I keep notes on a student's progress in their one-to-one lessons?

Yes. Each lesson has space for notes, and you can also keep ongoing notes on the student's record.
