Getting started
How long does it take to set up?
The initial setup takes a few minutes. You answer some questions about your business, pick a style, and your website is ready to review. From there, you can add your schedule, connect Stripe for payments, and optionally set up a custom domain at your own pace.
Do I need any technical skills?
No. The setup process walks you through everything, and you don’t need to write any code or know anything about websites. If you can fill in a form, you can set up Macadamia.
What happens when I sign up?
You’ll answer a few questions about what you do, who your clients are, and what kind of bookings you take. We use that to set up your website with the right pages and features. You can tweak everything afterwards.
Pricing
How much does it cost?
There’s a free plan for getting started, then paid plans from £12/month depending on how much flexibility and operational support you need. The fuller solo plan is £25/month, and Studio is £39/month.
What’s included in the free plan?
A live published site on a Macadamia subdomain, online bookings, and up to 100 bookings per month. Stripe-paid bookings on the free plan include a small commission, so you can get started before moving onto a paid tier.
What happens if I hit the free plan limit?
You’ll need to move onto a paid plan to keep taking new bookings that month. We’ll nudge you before that happens so you can choose the right next step.
Can I try it before committing to a paid plan?
Yes. You can create and preview your site before choosing a plan, and the free plan itself is a real live plan you can stay on for as long as it fits your business.
Payments & Stripe
How do my clients pay?
By card, through Stripe. When a client books, they can pay online as part of the booking process. You can also set things up so they pay in person instead, if you prefer.
Can I take payment in person instead of online?
Yes. You can choose per event or appointment type whether clients pay online when they book or on the day. It’s up to you.
How quickly do I get paid?
That’s handled by Stripe. Once your account is set up, payouts go to your bank account on Stripe’s standard schedule, which is usually a few working days.
Do I need a Stripe account?
You’ll need one to take payments, but you don’t need to set it up in advance. Macadamia walks you through connecting Stripe as part of the setup.
Website & domains
Do I get my own website?
Yes. Your website is created during setup, styled to your brand. It includes your booking pages, timetable, and a client portal. You can add more pages and content any time.
Can I use my own domain name?
Yes, on Solo and Studio. You can register a domain through Macadamia or connect one you already own. On Free and Core, your site lives at yourname.macadamia.studio.
Is the website mobile-friendly?
Yes. Your site works on phones, tablets, and desktops. You don’t need to do anything extra for this.
Can I edit it myself after setup?
Yes. You can update pages, change colours and fonts, add content, and rearrange your navigation from the dashboard. No code or developer needed.
Bookings
How do clients book with me?
They visit your website, see what’s available, and book a spot. If you’ve set up online payments, they pay at the same time. They get a confirmation with the details.
Can clients cancel their bookings?
Yes, through their portal. You set the rules for how close to the session they can cancel and still get a refund, and it’s all handled automatically.
What happens when a class or event is full?
Clients can join a waitlist. If a spot opens up, they’re notified and given a window to claim it before it goes to the next person.
How far in advance can clients book?
You control this. By default, your schedule is visible up to six months ahead, but you can adjust that in your settings.
Client experience
How do my clients log in?
With a magic link. They enter their email address, get a link sent to them, and click it to log in. No password to remember.
Do clients need to create an account?
No. When a client books for the first time, their details are saved automatically. Next time, they just enter their email to get a magic link and they can see all their bookings.
Data & privacy
Is it GDPR compliant?
Yes. A privacy policy is generated for your site and kept up to date. You fill in a few details about your business and it’s handled for you.
Where is my data hosted?
Your site and data are hosted in the cloud with industry-standard security. All connections are encrypted with SSL, and client data is only accessible to you and your team.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your data isn’t deleted automatically. If you cancel your plan, your site goes offline but your data is kept. You can export it or get back in touch if you change your mind.
